Overview of New York ACP

Who is eligible?

Survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking are eligible for New York’s ACP. Abortion providers are also eligible.


Who is covered?

Minor children, dependents, guardians, and other persons living in the household of an eligible applicant are covered by New York’s ACP.


How does the application process work?

New York ACP applicants may apply directly through the Department of State’s website but may also work with an approved application assistant when filling out the application. Applicants must confirm they are eligible for the program but no additional evidence or action with law enforcement is required.


How does the program protect your address information?

Once admitted into New York’s ACP, a participant will be assigned a substitute mail forwarding address for 4 years. This address may be used to register to vote or enroll in school, obtain a marriage license or driver’s license.
