Overview of Iowa ACP

Who is eligible?

Survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking are eligible for Iowa’s ACP.


Who is covered?

Minor children, dependents or guardians, and other persons living in the household of an eligible applicant are covered by Iowa’s ACP.


How does the application process work?

Iowa ACP applicants may apply directly to the program by downloading the application from the Secretary of State’s website and mailing a completed application to: P.O. Box 959, Des Moines, IA 50304. Applicants must confirm they are eligible for the program but no additional evidence or action with law enforcement is required.


How does the program protect your address information?

Once admitted into Iowa’s ACP, a participant will be assigned a substitute mail forwarding address for 4 years. This address may be used to register to vote or enroll in school or obtain a marriage license or driver’s license. In some cases, participants may also purchase property using their substitute address.
